– Casey Finnerty competed in the class AA state golf tournament last Tuesday and Wednesday at the Ridges at Sand Creek Golf Course in Jordan.
Casey posted rounds of 79 and 77 for a 156 total and a tie for 16th place. Casey is the first C-I golfer to compete at state since 2002. Along with his top 20 finish at state, Casey made the Mid State all conference team for the first time this year, was the individual medalist at the prestigious Arnold Palmer Invitational, and earned a spot on the MN Golf Coaches Association All State team based on weekly average golf scores. Casey also earned a spot on the MN Golf Association top 100 list for high school golfers in their latest rankings released June 10.
– In addition, this year’s Ranger golf team completed the most successful season in recent history, winning the Mid State Conference title for the first time since 1993, winning 4 invitationals, including the Arnold Palmer Invitational for the first time, and finishing in a second place tie at the section tournament to end the season. The Rangers were consistently ranked in the top 10 for class AA teams all season long, and ended the year ranked 41st in the MGA ranking of all state teams, regardless of class.
